Most years on any 1 job and description:

I have worked at the State of California - Porterville Developmental Center for 37 years. I started out in Food Service and then an Office Technician. I schedule the clients for medical appointments, surgeries, etc. that happen outside of our facility.

Oddest or most fascinating job you ever had:

I used to do go to people's homes, mainly older people, and teach them how to use their computer and the internet. My favorite story from this time is when a husband hired me to teach his wife how to use the internet because he had lost patience with her. I was teaching her how to bookmark her favorite websites and we stumbled upon her husband's bookmarks. Let's just say that they were a bit interesting. She cut her lesson short and made her husband give me an extra $20. Needless to say he didn't have me come back to help her any more. *LOL*

School Story:

I loved school!!! I have very many wonderful memories. Most of my favorites have to do with being in drill team for the awesome Monache Marauder band! All the competitions and band trips. Especially the British Isles trip! I loved sitting in the campus center at lunch listening to music. All the rallys in the gym. Serpentines to the football games. Dances afterwards. I remember how passionate I would get about things. Like sitting in the indian potholes on Snob Hill to prevent the housing tract from going in. *LOL* I loved all my friends. And am sad for those who are no longer among us. The older I get the more I appreciate what a wonderful time of my life high school was. We were all so excited to graduate and start our lives....now we wish we could have a part of that life back. And guess what?? In a small way we can! By getting together as a group and reminisce about our part of history at Monache. We've got Spirit that's really great cuz we're the Class of '78! See you at the reunion!

Comments:

When I was younger I swore I would leave Porterville and never, ever work at the "state hospital". Well....35 years later I'm still in Porterville and have worked at Porterville Developmental Center for 32 years. Oh well. *LOL*

I have 6 children and one beautiful grandbaby. I enjoy traveling, especially cruising! My kids have all moved out now and I'm kinda enjoying my empty nest. I swore I would not go to any more reunions but found myself volunteering to help so I guess I have to go now! Looking forward to seeing everyone there!
